A Rare Cased Pre War Webley Senior .22 Calibre Air Pistol.
The serial number of this pistol is 11214 which dates its manufacture to between 1935 and 1939 it has the cording applied to the pistol frame which was introduced after 1000 units were produced to aid the grip. It also has the small locking screw underneath the rear sight to discourage the removal of the air cylinder end plug. So likely manufactured circa 1936/1937.
The pistol is in very good condition retaining most of its original blueing showing few signs of wear with the stamping’s all crisp and legible. The grips are complete and undamaged. The pistol cocks and fires with no issues.
The case supplied with the pistol is a genuine second pattern carrying case made of wood and covered with canvas with leather reinforced corners. This has the compartments for the pistol and accessories and has the later gold coloured label affixed to the inside of the lid (see page 87 of Gordon Bruces’ Webley Air Pistols)
The case generally in good order showing wear to the corners and to the felt interior where the pistol sighs have caught the material but otherwise its in good condition for its age. There is no key but the mechanism functions correctly.
Included is a Pre War Tin of Webley Special Waisted Pellets, Cleaning rod and a 1938 produced Webley Air Pistols leaflet which includes details of the Pellets and pistol case. (The pages of the leaflet are loose but all legible)
A very hard to find collectable pistol with genuine period accessories.
